Helping a Friend with a Visual Impairment.
The changes I have made on the Microsoft Word are to helping a friend that has Visual impairment to help a friend to use Microsoft Word better. I also changed the resolution to a higher resolution to make it easier for the son to see everything on the page.
The First step I done was Minimize the Ribbon. I done that because when you minimize the ribbon it is better for the son to see the whole page and make it easier for him to see it, also it hides the ribbon so when you minimize the ribbon you just click on the bar too bring down the ribbon again. When the son clicks the page it minimizes again. This will help the son to see the page better and help him see the writing; also the ribbon won’t disturb the son to do what he needs to do on Microsoft Word.
I have made changes to put the font command on the Quick Toolbar. This will help because the font on the quick toolbar will be easier for the son to just change the font on the Quick Toolbar. The font will come up and it is better for the son to see the font sizes. This would be easier for him.
I have also changed the page colour to blue and the font to white, to make it easier for the son to read it better. The reason why is because the White font makes it stand out for the son to see it clearly and easier to read.
There are other things you can use to improve visual and audio impairment including the programmes from Microsoft.
Ease of Access
The Ease of Access Center is a central location where you can modify the accessibility programs available in Windows. You can adjust settings that make it easier to see your computer, use the mouse and keyboard, and use other input devices. This programme will help people that have visual and audio impairment
Narrator
Narrator is which reads text on the screen loud and describes some events that happen while using the computer or laptop. I would show the narrator to someone that has a visual impairment because it is helpful to hear what is going on with the computer and can use the computer better.
Magnifier
Magnifier enlarges different parts of the screen. You can also change the screen resolution, which adjusts the clarity, size, and amount of things that fit on your computer monitor. I would show the Magnifier to someone that has a visual impairment because it would show it is better to see things on the screen and will help him or her to use the computer more easily.
On Screen Keyboard
The on screen keyboard shows up a keyboard on the monitor. I would show the On Screen Keyboard to someone that has a visual impairment because he or she would probably find it easier to hit the keyboard on the screen with the mouse instead of taping on the keyboard itself.
Windows Speech Recognition
Speech recognition is the ability of a machine or program to identify words and phrases in spoken language and convert them to a machine-readable format. Rudimentary speech recognition software has a limited vocabulary of words and phrases and may only identify these if they are spoken very clearly. I would show the Windows Speech Recognition because the Speech Recognition will be easier to hear the words on the computer than to read the words.
